Icefall at Skalka near Kremnica
If you are a fan of ice climbing, you will find it at Skalka near Kremnica. One of the highest icefalls in Slovakia was created there. The adrenaline attraction is also open to the public.
Although it was not created by natural activity, it still attracts many visitors. The icefall, almost 20 meters long, is located on Skalka (in the ferrata world area directly under the glass lookout) and extends the offer of winter activities in this locality. The ice wall itself was 10 days in the making, but it was started during the summer. Such a wall is found only in a few places in Slovakia and thanks to the good location it is expected that the icefall will last until March. The operator of the icefall is the town of Kremnica. The adrenaline attraction is also open to the public. However, you will need special equipment. Non-professionals are recommended to climb the ice wall only with the supervision of a professional. The ice climbing wall was prepared by the Kremnica municipality together with the Kremnica Mountains Mountain Rescue Service. The project was financially implemented with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic.
