The Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria
Castle Church from the 13th century is the dominant feature of the Town Castle. There is an annexed tower near it, which offers a view of the whole Kremnica.
The late Gothic Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria, the patroness of the town, is the dominant feature of the Town Castle. A tower was freely added to the church in the 15th century, from which you will have Kremnica in the palm of your hand. 127 spiral stone stairs lead to the most beautiful views of the city skyline and the surrounding hills. The tower once housed guards who used to report danger. Today, their room has been converted into a permanent exhibition. The church is known for its exceptional acoustics. The temple space and the organ form a unique combination that is found nowhere else in Slovakia. That is why every year during the summer, as part of the international festival Kremnica Castle Organ, amazing organ concerts are organized there. The Church of St. Catherine, as a part of the Town Castle, is one of the exhibitions of the NBS – Museum of Coins and Medals.
