If you are interested in the Slovak National Uprising history, do not hesitate to join the commented tours „Start with Evacuation!“ that have been popular for several years. This year, you can experience interesting information about the course of rebel events in our territory along with staged scenes in Špania Dolina, Kalište, and Kremnica. There will also be a special tour in Tisovec. During the summer evenings, Night Tours await you, where we will immerse you into historical scenes with fencers and knights, guaranteeing good entertainment and laughter. Explore the history of the castles in Central Slovakia and their transformations over time with the tours Experience Castles Differently! along the Pohronie Castle Route, running until September. You can visit Zvolen Castle, Pustý Hrad, Peťuša, and Dobrá Niva Castle.

Summer Evenings in the Courtyard

A novelty among summer activities is „Summer Evenings in the Courtyard.“ These evenings are organized as discussion events with interesting guests, accompanied by refreshments and pleasant music, making them a great choice to kickstart the new week. The series of events will take place on June 6th, July 4th, August 8th, and September 5th in the courtyard of the Town Hall in Banska Bystrica.

You cannot miss this wedding

Transport yourself back in time to the distant era of the Middle ages at the Royal Celebration at Pustý Hrad. The last weekend of August will be filled with noble entertainment, music, singing, dancing, and, of course, excellent food. Experience the unforgettable atmosphere of a medieval Royal Wedding.

If you prefer nature tourism over urban tourism, don’t miss the guided excursions „Become a biologist for a day“ and explore the wild Laskomer area. With zoologist and ecologist Jerguš Tesák, you will learn many interesting facts about the local fauna and flora. You will discover the secrets of an ancient forest, track animals, set up camera traps, and witness life in the forest when we are not watching. For a journey into the mining history, you can literally step back in time with the Mining tunnel Prekop Špania Dolina – Piesky. You can walk under the ground of Špania Dolina on weekends and even during the working week in summer. You can create a full-day program in Špania Dolina, including visits to the Copper Museum, the Historic School of Professor Jozef Mistrík, the Lace Museum in Klopačka, or take a stroll along the Mining educational trail.

Sports enthusiasts will have a great time

The offer of adrenaline and sports experiences is expanding with E-biking in the Central Slovakia region. Explore Bike Park Pustý Hrad or the surroundings of Kráľová from the saddle of an E-bike, accompanied by a guide. The more adventurous can try downhill rides on the Zvolensko – Môťovské single trails, Laskomerské single trails, and Guldi trails in Kremnica. If you are planning a cycling trip with your partner, family, or group, you can rent E-bikes from our partner rental network.

To the mountains or on a bike comfortably and ecologically? With Cyklobus and Turbus, it’s possible. For the 11th year in a row, you can take a ride with us from Banská Bystrica to popular locations such as Donovaly, Šachtičky, Malý Šturec, and Strelníky. Experience the beauty of the surrounding nature from the saddle of your bicycle. Cyklobus runs at regular intervals during weekends and holidays until the end of September. Turbus will take you directly to the Mountain Hotel Kráľova studňa, from where you have opportunities for the most famous hiking trails in Veľká Fatra.

Museum and gallery enthusiasts, pay attention! With MÚZPAS, you can visit selected museums and galleries at a discounted price. Eight institutions open their doors to you, offering both permanent and new exhibitions. Discover the most renowned museums and galleries in the city beneath Urpín and uncover a multitude of interesting facts. The validity of MÚZPAS lasts until December 2023.

By train for an experience

Among the favorite activities in our region, taking a ride on the historical train „Expres 34 Tunnels“ is definitely a must-try experience. This year, we are organizing the express train journey for the fourth time, and we are excited to introduce themed rides as a new feature. Allow yourself to be enchanted by the scenic route from Banská Bystrica to Kremnica, where you can choose between the Kremnické Gagy or immerse yourself in the history of the Slovak National Uprising. The choice is entirely yours.
