Podkonice Pleše

We recommend new ski mountaineering enthusiasts to gain experience in the resort Podkonice – Pleše, where skiing is exclusively on natural snow. The top of the ski resort is located at 987 m above sea level and represents an elevation of less than 200 m from the starting point. For fans of classic downhill skiing, the resort offers five downhill slopes of easy and medium difficulty.

Krížna – Mother of Avalanches

This name was given to it on the basis of the largest recorded avalanches in the whole of Slovakia. Nevertheless, it attracts many ski mountaineers. Krížna offers more difficult and less difficult descents from the starting points Turecká (Salašky) and Staré Hory part of Rybô (on maps marked as Rybie). Be sure to check the conditions and consider the avalanche danger before each ascent.

Donovaly

The Donovaly resort offers three marked routes A,B, and C for ski mountaineers. Two of them (A,B) offer the possibility of starting directly from the village. The third route (C) will take you through the valley Žarnovka. All routes lead to the Zvolen hill, from where you can consider descending directly to the village or continue to the groomed slope of Nová Hoľa. You can also climb directly up the slope. Here, however, do not forget about the rules or moving along the edge of the slopes in the crowd.

Other routes

If you have no problem with orientation in nature, there are other ski alp possibilities in the Central Slovakia region. In case of good snow conditions, you can get to Pánsky diel directly from the Sásová housing estate and finish your tour with a descent to Šachtičky. Beautiful views are also offered by Selčiansky diel with an easy ascent from the Hotel Fuggerov Dvor (Selce).
