Central Slovak Gallery with over 60 years of tradition is located in the center of Banská Bystrica.
The Central Slovak Gallery with over 60 years of tradition is located in the center of Banská Bystrica. It is profiled as an open institution and apart from exhibition activities it offers the public professional curatorial and educational projects. Short-term exhibitions are rotated in the buildings of the former town hall Pretórium and in the Bethlen’s Mansion. In the building of the artist Dominik Skutezky’s family villa with a garden, a permanent exhibition of his paintings is open to the public.
The gallery’s exhibition and educational activities take place in 3 historical buildings:
Villa of Dominik Skutezky – The artist’s family villa with a beautiful garden offers its visitors a permanent exhibition of Dominik Skutezky’s paintings.
Pretórium – Pretórium is focused on the presentation of short-term exhibitions of current forms of contemporary domestic and foreign art. It profiles itself primarily as an experimental space for curatorial and research projects, and also serves for the presentation of larger monographic exhibitions of important personalities of Slovak visual art.
Bethlen’s Mansion – There are organized temporary exhibitions presenting works not only from the gallery collection but also borrowed works from other renowned art collections and studios. Every autumn, there are special educational exhibitions organized for general public.
