THURZO – FUGGER Interactive Exposition
Don’t miss an engaging tour of the mining past and go back more than 500 years to the heyday of mining in Banská Bystrica and its surroundings.
The permanent THURZO – FUGGER Interactive exposition in the Barbican brings the mining history of Banská Bystrica and the surrounding villages and towns closer, especially from the times of the famous Thurzo-Fugger Company and the Copperworks.
It uses modern technologies (virtual and augmented reality, touch screens, 3D visualizations, 360° video projection, smartphones, etc.). On the motion platform, visitors can take a „walk“ through the production areas of the Copperworks and see what it was like in the days of its greatest glory. They will learn about the development of mining and mining machinery and a lot of interesting information related to this topic.
The Bronze Age miner, the first Banská Bystrica mayor Ondrej, Ján Thurzo, and Jakob Fugger – key personalities of the Banská Bystrica copper mining company – will speak to you through „talking pictures“. You will look into the adit – directly in the exhibition, and far beyond the walls of the City Castle. You will learn how and on what the richest man in the world got rich, or what copper meant to people and what it was used for from prehistoric times to the present day.
Come and be transported in time and space and discover things unknown or long forgotten. A tour of the exhibition lasts approximately 1.5 – 2 hours.
